Exciting Changes in the Investment Team at Systemiq Capital

‍Jasper Wigley has been promoted to Principal, and Gemma Bloemen is transitioning to lead our Applied AI investments six months after joining Systemiq Capital as Venture Partner.

Irena Spazzapan, Managing Partner: "Both of these changes reflect the hard work of the past few months, and we're a stronger team with both of them in these roles. Jasper has built our compute investment thesis from scratch and backed it up with incredible deal momentum. Gemma has been supporting our Applied AI thesis as a Venture Partner since January through her experience, network and ability to work with founders. Six months in, welcoming her to our investment team to lead the Applied AI part of our investment thesis feels like the natural next step."

Jasper Wigley, Principal

Jasper joined Systemiq Capital from Seraphim Space, where he worked across the spacetech investment landscape. Before that, his career spanned an unusually broad set of frontiers, starting out as an audio engineer, building and operating in early-stage startups, and working in devtools and emerging compute communities. That path gave him a rare fluency across both the technical and commercial sides of frontier technology, and a conviction that the most interesting companies sit where digital meets physical.

Since joining, Jasper has built Systemiq Capital's Advanced Computing thesis from the ground up, establishing the firm as an active early-stage investor across semiconductors, photonics, the data centre stack, and emerging paradigms like neuromorphic, edge, and space computing. He leads the firm's work with portfolio companies including Mixx Technologies, pioneering next generation silicon photonics for AI infrastructure, and Claros, building integrated voltage regulators for AI Compute hardware, and has driven deal work across the US and Europe. He has also become a visible presence in the UK semiconductor ecosystem, most recently co-hosting the firm's London Tech Week evening on UK-Taiwan semiconductor collaboration.

Gemma Bloemen

Gemma joined Systemiq Capital as Venture Partner in January, bringing a wealth of experience from her past in operating roles at Uber and Elder, and investment roles at Creandum and Norrsken.

She spent the last decade in the London startup ecosystem, learning how to manage teams and scale rapidly at Uber UK and how to lead and fundraise as an early-stage COO at Elder, a healthcare marketplace. Over the last five years she has combined that operator experience with VC roles at Europe's leading Series A fund Creandum and at Norrsken VC, alongside more than 15 personal angel investments.

Gemma has now joined our investment team to lead on our Applied AI thesis.

These changes mark real progress for our investment team as we keep backing founders across Compute & Electrification, Applied AI, and Decoding Nature.

We look forward to seeing what Jasper and Gemma will do next, for our portfolio and for Systemiq Capital. Founders building anywhere in the advanced computing stack and on Applied AI for the physical world, Jasper and Gemma want to hear from you!
